- The University of Craiova was founded after the Law
no:138, was passed on 25 th of April 1947 on reponse to the expressed whish the
intelectuals of Oltenia had voiced a century before.
- The University of Craiova is a complex integrated educational institution.
It consist of 15 faculties and three collegies with over 70 specialities, 80 departaments,
1200 permanent academic staff, 8 buildings with laboratoires, classes and other training
rooms, a central library with 1200000 volumes and 15 faculties library, a didactical and
experimental farms, a botanical garden, sport grounds etc.
- The University of Craiova provides day and extramural courses for more than
15000 undergraduates and 40 award-bearing courses at master level for postgraduates (one
or two years).
- The latter can also benefits from the joined collaboration of over 70
distinguished professors who supervised doctoral programs.
- Since 1998 University of Craiova offer the possibility of training trough
open and distance learning at all levels.
- 14 faculties from University of Craiova offer the possibility of training
through open and distance learning and only in last year was trained over 2000 students.
- Our students range in age from 18 to over 60 but most of them are aged
between 30 and 35.
